BABOR

The secret to BABOR's success lies in its holistic concept. We believe in taking an ecologically and socially responsible approach to our business. BABOR focuses on the principles of sustainability and responsibility. Our company supports social projects around the world and actively promotes environmental protection initiatives. For example, the owner, management and employees supported the SOS Children’s Village of San Ignacio in Paraguay, the region’s youth aid facility, as well as the dolphin aid foundation. BABOR has supported the world-renowned International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen for over 15 years. In order to reduce packaging waste and protect the environment, BABOR observes GOGREEN’s environmentally compatible guidelines in the production and shipping of its products. The secret to this company’s many years of success in the industry lies in the close, family-like relationships with its employees and personalised, all-embracing customer service.

GOGREEN is the new service provided by the DHL logistics company which allows for the world’s first CO2-neutral shipment of consignments. CO2 emissions caused by private households and industry contribute to climate change and have greatly increased in significance in recent years. BABOR is also aware of its responsibilities in this regard and is playing an active role in climate protection. Within the framework of DHL’s GOGREEN initiative, emissions which arise during the process of shipping letters, parcels and containers are recorded in accordance with a certified procedure (ISO 14064) and offset through DHL-sponsored climate-protection projects. For a small surcharge of 5 euro cents and by virtue of its cooperation with the DHL logistics firm, BABOR is therefore in a position to ship items all around the country on a climate-neutral basis.

Active involvement in climate protection

Thanks to the results achieved by GOGREEN, DHL is able to implement measures whereby the amount of CO2 emitted during transport is saved or extracted once more from the atmosphere while DHL ensures that a balanced mix of initiatives is achieved relating to geographical location and the nature of the sponsored projects.

Bio-gas plant in Gundorf

Since 2006, DHL has been financing a project involving a controlled process for producing methane by fermenting cow dung in a biomethanisation plant. Electricity and heat are gained from the methane which has been produced and collected.

Reforestation in Central America

With the aid of financial incentives, DHL encourages small farmers to plant trees which are native to the rainforest rather than chopping them down in order to make way for coffee plantations or livestock. Using this strategy, DHL is safeguarding living space for future generations while also protecting soil quality and the biodiversity of the region’s flora.
