BABOR is an international company with a long family tradition. It is one of the leading brands in the professional cosmetics segment. Our beauty products are manufactured according to international cosmetics standards and filled at our state-of-the-art production facilities in Aachen. Over 40 distributors and nine subsidiaries around the world ensure that the company is always close to its clients – a crucial key to success. Today, BABOR Group is represented in 60 countries and employees over 350 people worldwide. In Germany alone, 250 people work to provide our beauty services.

Dr. Michael Babor founded the company in 1956 under the name Dr. Babor GmbH. The historic roots of the BABOR brand date back to 1955, when Dr. Michael Babor patented his invention – the facial cleanser with "hydrophilic oil”, the renowned HY-ÖL®.

Dr. Michael Babor creates hydrophilic natural cosmetics with »BIOGEN®« and registers »HY-ÖL®« with the patents office.

BABOR is founded.
1962
The Vossen family from Aachen acquires 90% of BABOR shares.
1963
Firm relocates to Aachen.
1966
The black rose is registered as a trademark.
1977
BABOR relocates to its own newly constructed premises in Eilendorf.

BABOR Cosmetics opens in the USA.
1983
The vocational and training centre is opened.
BABOR establishes an employee stock-ownership company.
