Dr. Babor does not test cosmetic products or ingredients on animals or commission other companies to do so. Our finished products are tested on volunteers in a renowned skin clinic under medical supervision. BABOR uses the greatest possible proportion of natural ingredients for its high-quality treatment systems. Whenever possible, the active ingredients in particular are natural substances from renewable primary products. The additives in the basic preparations may, however, be of synthetic origin. There are two main arguments for this: BABOR guarantees a high and constant quality standard and ensures the functioning of a product for professional application. By this we mean treatment by professional estheticians, who apply BABOR products in cosmetics studios and also sell them after extensive advice.

UVA and UVB filters reduce UV radiation penetration to the skin. However, they cannot ward it off entirely. This is why BABOR’s sun protection products also contain the innovative CELL PROTECT COMPLEX. Extracts of Senna didymobotrya protect the DNA of the cells from damage by UV radiation and promote the natural repair mechanism of the cells.
In addition, highly effective radical scavengers vitamins E and C are encapsulated in a carrier ball, which opens in the event of UV exposure, protecting the skin precisely when it needs it. In this way the innovative active ingredient combination protects the DNA of the cells. It reduces long-term damage such as UV-induced skin cancer. In addition, the anti-aging complex SPC+ actively helps to protect against skin aging.

The pH value of our products ranges from around 5 to 5.5 (neutral).

The skin on the face is thinner than the skin on the body and therefore more sensitive. It reacts more quickly to mechanical stimuli and should therefore be treated with a milder scrub, ideally with rounded beads/smoothing particles, as these do not scratch.

On our products you can find the pot symbol with an open lid. Inside the pot symbol there is a number, “xxM” – in the case of Vita Balance Day Cream, for instance, it is 12M. This means that the pot should be used within 12 months of opening.

Men need a skin care series of their own as men’s skin is quickly oversaturated by “typical” feminine ingredients which can lead to spots and blemishes. In addition to this, men's skin does not need as much oil as women’s skin. Men’s skin needs more moisture. Often a 24-hour skin cream is enough for a man.
The difference between men’s skin and women’s skin is that men’s skin has a rougher surface. The epidermis is thicker and generally has enlarged follicles, meaning that it also secretes more sebum. The number of apocrine glands and sweat glands is higher than in women's skin, so men tend to sweat more. Men’s skin has a greater acid resistance as well as better neutralisation ability.
The connective tissue is firmer and better structured than in women’s skin.
Cosmetics tailored towards men are mostly for oily, large-pored skin which tends towards blemishes. These products are often combined with active ingredients for sensitive and dry skin. Astringent active ingredients to refine the pores are also often used. To calm skin stressed from constant shaving, active ingredients are used which normalise and relax the skin.
Tip: Men should shave before breakfast because breakfast stimulates digestive activity and the capillary vessels, which are located directly under the skin, are supplied with blood more effectively. This increases the risk of injury when shaving. Small wounds will bleed more and for longer.

NANOCELL has been registered by Babor as a product name since 1993. As the name suggests, NANOCELL cosmetic products work at the cellular level of the epidermis.
The main active ingredient in our new NANOCELL products in the Skinovage range is an extract of plant stem cells (undifferentiated cells) of the Uttwiler Spätlauber, a very old species of Swiss apple. Because of its special ingredients, it can be stored for extremely long periods and ages exceptionally slowly. This unique species of apple is only available in Switzerland and even there it has now become extremely rare, since storable apples are no longer in demand today.The plant stem cells extracted from the apple have been shown to protect human stem cells in the epidermis against external stress, making them more resistant and thus extending their life. Skin treated with skincare products that contain the extract from the Spätlauber apple ages more slowly.Another ingredient n the cream is an extremely finely distributed emulsion made from blackcurrant seed oil, which ensures excellent spreadability.BABOR’s NANOCELL products have nothing to do with the EU regulation on nanoparticles as NANOCELL products do not contain such ingredients.
