Dr. Michael Babor founded the company in 1956 under the name Dr. Babor GmbH. The historic roots of the BABOR brand date back to 1955, when Dr. Michael Babor patented his invention – the facial cleanser with "hydrophilic oil”, the renowned HY-ÖL®.

Dr. Michael Babor creates hydrophilic natural cosmetics with »BIOGEN®« and registers »HY-ÖL®« with the patents office.

The Vossen family from Aachen acquires 90% of BABOR shares.

Firm relocates to Aachen.
